In 1996 ‘Faethon’, the first private Conservatory in Alexandroupolis, was established. In 1997, after the expressed interest of the musicians already co-operating with the ‘Faethon’ Conservatory, The MUSIC COMPANY OF ALEXANDROUPOLIS is established. Very soon, more music teachers interested in the goals and targets of the company and having as their main objective the development and establishment of a modern and powerful private institution for music education are involved in the company. This would respond in the best possible way to the need for specialized music education, which is not offered in public schools, as well as to the essential needs of the music-loving audience in Alexandroupolis, which had been for years unsatisfied, because of the lack of such a private institution.

In 2000 the company proceeds in the building of its own premises, which are planned as a music-research centre of especially high standards and capacity (basement, ground floor and two floors) so that it is more than sufficient for the needs of the local society for music education and culture.

In 2001, understanding the existing weaknesses in music education in Greece, owing to the lack of proper music aids for the development of  musical acoustic abilities in students of music, the goals of the company are further enhanced by its ability to produce software for the study of music.

Today, the innovative and pioneering CD-ROM PHAETON (Control of Musical Acoustic Abilities I & II) are available in music stores all over Greece, and constitute perhaps the most important aid for practicing the acoustic abilities of students of music and also for those interested in studying at the Departments of Music in Higher Education Institutions, since the organization of the material and the way of finding the answers, has been programmed according to the requirements of the respective specialized subject for the Panhellenic Examinations of the Ministry of Education.

In 2007, after the positive suggestion of the Department of Secondary Education and the coordinating Council of the Education Institute, the educational software of the Music Company of Alexandroupolis is the first one to be approved by the Greek Ministry of Education, for the acoustic practice of students in Music Schools in Greece and for the candidates for the Departments of Music Studies at Universities.

Furthermore, this software has been chosen by the Ministry of Education for the enrichment of school libraries of the country.

Every year at the PHAETON Conservatory study more than 300 students from all over Thrace, and graduate receiving Certificates and Diplomas recognized by the State, after being examined by a State Committee appointed by the Ministry of Culture; they succeed in entrance exams for the Departments of Music Studies at Universities and they are constantly distinguished in several competitions.

As for the continuous successes of students of the company’s Conservatory, at a local, a Thracian as well as a Panhellenic level indicatively are mentioned the following:

1998:   -4^th place for the piano, in the Panhellenic Music Competition for Schools, by the Ministry of Education.

1999:   -3^rd Panhellenic Prize for Composition, in the Music Competition for Schools, by the Ministry of Education.

2000:   -1^st Panhellenic Prize for Composition, in the Music Competition for Schools, by the Ministry of Education.

-The first Fugue Certificate in the history of Alexandroupolis.

2001:   -1^st Panhellenic Prize for the Bouzouki, in the Music Competition for Schools, by the Ministry of Education.

2002:   -The first Diploma for Composition in the history of Thrace.

-The first Diploma for the Flute in the history of Alexandroupolis.

2003:   -2^nd Successful candidate for the Department of Music Studies, in the A.U.T.

-3^rd Successful candidate for the Department of Music Art & Science, in the University of Macedonia.

-The first Certificate for the Clarinet in the history of Alexandroupolis.

2004:   -Nine awards in the Regional Music Competition for Schools, by the Ministry of Education.

2005:   -The first Certificate for the Trumpet in the history of Thrace.

-Eleven awards in the Regional Music Competition for Schools, by the Ministry of Education.

2006:   - 1^st Successful candidate for the Department of Music Studies, in the A.U.T.

-2^nd Successful candidate for the Department of Music Art & Science, in the University of Macedonia.

- 6^th Successful candidate among 14 at a Panhellenic level, for the Infantry Music Corps.

2008:   -The first Diploma for the Violin in Evros Prefecture.

2010:   -The first Diploma for Choir Conducting in Northern Greece.

2011:   -The first Diploma for the Clarinet in the history of Evros Prefecture.

The Conservatory has a student symphony orchestra, which has been created after a long and laborious effort with the contribution of teachers – members of the State Orchestra of Athens and the State Orchestra of Thessaloniki. Being the only one of its kind in the Evros Prefecture, it reflects  the offered classical music education.

In the department of Composition of our Conservatory, have been studying music teachers from all over Northern Greece, even from Thessaloniki, in order to acquire the Diploma for Composition, which is the highest Diploma in the whole range of music studies in the Conservatories of our country.

Now we operate the only recognized Percussion School in Thrace. For its creation our company has invested heavily for the acquisition of orchestra timpani and other percussion instruments like marimbas, necessary for the operation of the school.

By the end of the year 2008, we have started to operate the first music library in the area of Thrace, to be used exclusively by the teachers and students of our Conservatory. The material of the library is continuously enriched with more titles of musicology books, scores, as well as acoustic material. In the library there is already contained Beethoven’s whole work and the internationally most valid musicological editions in English and German language. In the Conservatory premises there is also a Hall for concerts and recordings. This  Hall, which is a multifunctional cultural nucleus for the town of Alexandroupolis, has a seating capacity for more than 100 people, has two grand pianos and can accommodate, apart from musical events, theatrical performances, scientific and cultural congresses, and different kinds of exhibitions. It also has the necessary infrastructure and is used as a hall for professional recordings. These deal with the recording of the acoustic material and the processing as well, using state of the art technical equipment and employing properly trained technicians. The mass production of CDs/DVDs, takes place entirely in our company. The aforementioned capabilities have been officially announced in the Cultural Congress of the Union of Cultural Entities in the Evros Prefecture, which took place in March 2009 in Alexandroupolis.
